Weekend round-up

Image via www.c-monandkypski.comThursday:

In SF:  If you’ve always wanted to hear melodramatic, emotronic showtunes then you should get down to Bottom of The Hill to see Sugar and Gold alongside Nite Jewel, Baron Von Luxxury, and DJ Loose Shus. Over at Rickshaw Stop are Aquaserge, Casper & the Cookies, and Grand Lake. If you want to check out one of the next hot European electronic acts then you need to see C-Mon & Kypski at The Independent who’ll be supported by The Frequency and Sweet Snacks. At 330 Ritch weekly Thursday residents Popscene bring us some local flavor with The Limosines and Butterfly Bones, and as a bonus for those short of energy, they have Red Bull drink specials all night.

East Bay:  In Oakland The Uptown has Javelin plus Maus Haus and Berkeley’s The Splinters and the Stork Club rocks it out with Hellbeard, Cheapskate, Poor Man’s War, Freedom Club, and Officer Down.

Friday:

In SF:  We start at Bottom of The Hill so you can rock it out with The Ponys, Disappears, and Spencey Dude & the Doodles. At Mighty there’s a unique chance to catch the talents of Will Holland of Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra as he throws down one of his eclectic DJ sets for Blasthaus. There are more electronic sounds over at Rickshaw Stop with the Popscene crew as they bring us Lemonade, Solid Gold, and Active Child.

East Bay: In Berkeley the Starry Plough has folk rock with Birdmonster, bluegrass with The Family Hogwash, and catchy melodies with King Baldwin. In Oakland the Stork Club has Tell-Tale Heart Breakers, Death Valley High, Vacant Churches, and Hooray for Everything!.

Saturday:

In SF: At Bottom of The Hill it’s sure to be an interesting evening with Maus Haus and their concrete/dub/crunk sound plus dub rockers Rafter and Oakland’s psychedelic White Cloud. At Mezzanine you can show your love to the Bay Area’s artists by attending the Chillin' Productions 12th anniversary party with live painting, screen-printing plus plenty of DJ’s – it all starts at 8 and the cover is only $10. The Antlers return to SF at The Independent with big beat protagonists PhantogramThee Parkside celebrates May Day with a bi-lingual night of rebel music with !Outernational! and Olmeca.

East Bay:  In Oakland at The Uptown has a night of lyrics featuring Big Dan, Los Rakas, Tragik Kiwi, and Powerstruggle. Also in Oakland the Stork Club has some serious metal with MeatSlab, Increments of Death, Feral Depravity, and Sarcosis. Over in Berkeley the vibe turns Brazilian with Sotaque Baiano and DJ Rueben.
