Sneak peek: 4 Corners of a Circle Spring 2013

(Ed note: the full recap of the 4 corners of a Circle show, including backstage beauty can now be seen here.)

One of our favorite "discoveries" of the Spring/Summer 2012 season, 4 Corners of a Circle has been quietly growing a loyal underground following in the US since the tragic Japanese earthquake and tsunami of March 2011 forced the designer Natsuko Kanno to debut her collection in New York. (After Tokyo Fashion Week had been canceled.) Understated, and yet breathtakingly beautiful in its quiet luxury, that first small runway show held in the tiny gallery space at the Tenri Cultural Institute, won our hearts over instantly.

Fast forward a few months, and Kanno had already grown 4 Corners of a Circle by leaps and bounds. Now carried in several of New York's hippest boutiques, her Fall 2012 show was another knockout, this time unveiled in the Audi Forum to a big audience that now contained editors from some of the world's biggest publications.

Now as we head towards Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Spring 2013, we can't wait to see what Kanno  has created. Said to incorporate "Romance in the air, with a subtle sweetness, juxtaposed with an architectural edge reflected with an ethereal touch of galaxy prints of floating stars seen in various dimensions, floating on sheer flamingo pink menswear shirts, chic wide-cuffed shorts, slate gray car coats, and silk hakama shorts in bright cobalt blue..." the collection is one we wouldn't dream of missing.
