Local love: San Francisco style season kicks off

Spring in San Francisco means the return of baseball, highly unstable weather, and lots and lots of local fashion. From Discarded to Divine which hosts its annual gala and runway show next week, to student shows at all the local universities and trade schools, to the many, many small local presentations San Francisco will be showing its stuff all season long. 

 

Starting next  week, local-fashion followers who want to check out what the SF Bay Area has to offer ought to check out:

 

Discarded to Divine Gala 2012

When: Thursday, April 26 6pm-10pm

Where: SF Design Center, 101 Henry Adams Street SF

What: The Seventh Annual Discarded to Divine Gala and Runway Show showcases the talents of established and aspiring designers who remake discarded, donated clothing into one-of-a-kind fashion, exquisite home décor and unique accessories, which are auctioned by the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVDP-SF) to help San Franciscans overcome poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and substance abuse.

How much: $95 general; $195 VIP pass through April 24th on Eventbrite

 

San Francisco State University Annual Senior Fashion Show: Defined

When: May 3

Where: San Francisco Design Center 101 Henry Adams Street, SF

What:  The 13th Annual Student Fashion Show showcasing the work of Seniors graduating from the San Francisco State University Apparel Design and Merchandising Program.

How much: $15 standing room, $25 premiere seating via Eventbrite.

Academy of Art University Spring Show

When: Saturday May 5th 2PM

Where: Academy of Art University 79 New Montgomery Street SF

What: The annual spring show featuring a jury selected array of student designers

How much: Free, tickets are first come first serve and available from 9AM-1pm on the day of the show when you RSVP here

 

California College of the Arts Annual Fashion show:

When:  Friday, May 11, at 8 p.m. 

Where: The San Francisco campus inside the exhibition tent (located in front of the Nave)

What: One of the most popular, and professional in production among the student shows, the California College of the Arts Senior Fashion show, features the work of a jury-selected students. The Fashion Program this year welcomes Maybelline New York as the Annual Fashion Show presenting sponsor and Levi Strauss & Co. as lead sponsor. We are also grateful for the return of Surface magazine, a longtime supporter, as media sponsor of CCA's Annual Fashion Show.

How much: General admission: $40; VIP: $100 (includes 6:30 pre-party in the Nave / preferred runway seating.) All tickets via Eventbrite

BLACK V  RUNWAY SHOW

Some of San Francisco's most prominent designers including Zoe Hong, Ken Chen and Cari Borja, will come together to showcase their latest work at the annual Black V Runway show May 12th. Presented by Pigment Cosmetics and Astonish Magazine, the event is always one of the highlights among the local industy professionals. Tickets are still availalbe fo $50 via  wantickets.com.  

 

City College of San Francisco 2012 Spring Fashion show, Ethereal Night

When: Sunday, May 20th 6-7PM

Where: Ruby Skye 

What:  Broken into style segments ( Ladylike, Tribal, Athletica,  and Art Deco) the CCSF Annual Runway show benefiting the college's Fashion Department will feature the best and the brightest of its student population.
