Direct import: Japanese label Gouk coming to the Bay Area
Over the past few years, the influence and international popularity of Japanese designers has been sky rocketing. As we've previously reported you needn't look further than our the New York runways to see how classic Japanese design principles, such as pattern, fabrication, and silhouette have been incorporated into the collections from fashion houses all over the world.
On April 14th Bay Area fashion fans, will get a chance to experience true Japanese Fashion up close and in person, as designer Takeshi Kunitomo brings his GOUK Spring/Summer 2012 collection to San Francisco for a runway show.
The popular online publication Rokkyuu Magazine described Gouk as "an elegant brand inspired by traditional Japanese patterns and design. While traditional Japanese fashion can be intimidating, designer Takeshi Kunitomo makes clothes that are extremely wearable, using soft fabrics and clean lines to blend the traditional and the modern."
Weather permitting, the Gouk Spring Summer 2012 runway show will take place in Peace Plaza at 3PM as part of the Annual Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival. Customers who spend $100 or more at the h.Naoto/Gouk shop in San Francisco's New People Building during the festival will be invited to a private party with designer Takeshi Kunitomo on Sunday ( April 15th). For more information on the label, and the events visit New People online.
