Spring 2012 trend alert: Art inspired

Whether you watched it on youtube, or were actually present at the Spring 2012 collections in New York,  it was impossible not to notice the major influence art had on well, just about everything. From Andy Warhol to Claude Monet it felt like every designer was  channeling the masters.

Some of our favorite takes on the trend included:

Andy Warhol at Chris Benz. Bold colors and comic-book prints made Chris Benz Spring 2012 pop with Warhol esque charm.

Mara Hoffman S.S. 2012/Image:S.Whittle for Style WyldeFrida Kahlo at Mara Hoffman. Rich colors, traditional silhouettes, craft-inspired accessories and that knock-out beauty look  created for the collection, gave Mara Hoffman Spring 2012 a vibrant feel that was pure Kahlo.

Salvadore Dali at Jen Kao. A backdrop that resembled burning skies, oversized floral hats, and an array of dizzying prints brought a seriously surreal, Dali feel to the Jen Kao Spring 2012 collection.

Timo Weiland S.S. 2012/Image:S.Whittle for Style Wylde 

Claude Monet at Timo Weiland. Soft, deconstructed prints that were alive with water-color emotionality made the Spring 2012 Timo Weiland collection seem ready-to-hang in the gallery among the impressionists.

Libertine S.S 2012/Image:S.Whittle for Style Wylde 

Jean Paul Basquiat at Libertine. Graffiti met graphic for a look that was provocative, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, and 100% worthy of the street artist turned revolutionary painter.
