Fashion feature: BROOD Fall 2012

Showing in the unenviable time slot of mid-afternoon, on the last day when many journalists had already departed for London Fashion Week, indie label BROOD managed to attract a bevy of celebrities and international industry types. Why all the buzz?  It just might have something to do with Brood designer Serkan Sarier,  who's background at major labels and long list of celeb friends have made him an in-the-know-fashion-set darling.  Or, it might just be that the fresh inventive collection of draped dresses and painterly printed separates was worth waiting all week for.

Definitely of the arthouse avant-garde ilk, but devoid of all that boring morbidity, the BROOD pieces  were light and airy with an almost Spring-like appeal.

Plays with shape, structure and volume were everywhere with seemingly simple wrap dresses, exaggerated flounces on shoulders and asymmetrical closures on tops. The color palette which blended creamy whites, soft purples and bright blues blues into painterly patterns accented with more traditional Autumnal blacks felt like one that would work from September's earliest days to well into Spring 2013.
