Fashion feature: Karen Walker Fall 2012

Karen Walker's Fall 2012 collection was given the title "Sea Monsters", a name that with a lesser designer might conjure images of over-the-top bad fashion school senior projects. But with Walker there is no need to fear goofy design, she always creates pitch-perfect pieces, and Sea Monsters was no exception.  A delightfully wearable mash-up of Swinging 60's silhouettes and Victorian details, with just a hint of oceania in the prints, the looks seemed to float down the runway in a wave of loveliness.

While the prints, which varied from tiny spouting whales, to nautical images and victorian brocades, were classic Walker; charming, but never overly twee.

In a week with so many fantastic collections the echo of "one of the best things I've seen all week" seems to be heard everywhere, but at Karen Walker  Fall 2012 that statement really rang true.
