Fashion feature: Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2012
For one not to be utterly dazzled the Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2012 collection which was inspired by the Chinese opera The White Haired Girl, they'd have to be blind, or at least extremely dead inside. The sheer beauty of the intricately detailed floor-length gowns that sparkled with paiettes, the vibrant color soaked midi-length cocktail dresses, and the luxe leather looks for day was breath taking.
No stranger to creating fashion drama via spectacular evening wear, Mohapatra has been a favorite among editors and A-list celebrities for many seasons. However, Fall 2012 was the first season that he moved from a smaller scale presentation to a large scale big-production runway show; a move clearly right for the designer as he easily filled the larger space both literally with a packed-house audience of adoring fans, and metaphorically with his theatrical production and obvious passion for his craft.
There was not a single miss step in the 30 look collection that spanned all the wardrobe necessities from crisp wool coats and silk blouses with cigarette pants, fashion forward day dresses, to all those amazing gowns that are sure to be showing up on the red carpet come award season 2013.
