Fashion Feature: Timo Weiland Spring 2012

Classic shapes made modern by vibrant hues and one-of-a-kind prints that incorporate high concepts and tons of rebellious spirit have become the hallmark of the Timo Weiland brand for the past few seasons. For Spring 2012, much of those classic Timo Weiland features were present (the prints, the bold colors) but that rebellious attitude was replaced, in part by a more mature, and almost subdued spirit. No longer the 'little label' that shows in warehouse spaces in Chelsea, Timo Weiland has now gone big-time, showing a full runway show in the tents for the first time ever, a change that speaks volumes to the growing popularity of the label in the mainstream market.

Of course the downside of moving from an intimate presentation where attendees come within inches of the pieces, is a dissipation of energy and disconnect with the work which may account for the impression that the Spring collection was a more subdued, and less avant- garde-art-inspired than previous seasons.
