Since the 2007 launch of her knit-only collection designer Natsuko Kanno of 4 Corners of a Circle, has been honing her craft and defining her view point as a young Japanese designer on the cutting edge of her country's fashion scene. This season inspired by the Akira Kyrosawa film Dream, Kanno has elevated her work to the highest level yet with a bold, bright and utterly modern collection of skirts dresses and blouses that blend traditional Japanese esthetics with a wider world view.

The simple, yet hyper-pigmented primary color palette of the 4 Corners of a Circle Spring 2012 collection was a refreshing change after days of mute neutrals and perfectly fit with the clean lines of the collection.

Small surprising details such as hidden pleats and flat 'epaulettes' on shoulders gave the collection interest without becoming overly fussy, and added intrigue without crossing over into cliche or gimmick.

And in seeing the pieces come down the runway, each striking a perfect balance between interest and wearability it became clear that without a doubt that is exactly what she has done.
