Worth a listen: Allflaws, Amrak

Image via allflaws.comBristol, UK, has been a hotbed musical innovation since the early 1990’s.  Bristol's list of hometown heroes includes  of Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Roni Size, Up, Bustle and Out, and relative newcomers ALLFLAWS whose newest release AMRAK drops on via Derelict State Records this week. 

Following his vision for the band which he conceived in late 2004,  Vocalist and Producer Gerard Curran has melded electronic and rap into a new version of trip-hop, one that's brooding, hard, and edgy. Each track is dominated by Curran’s dark, inventive, and intelligent lyrics that are layered over a variety of electronic backdrops. Whether that backdrop is the double-time beats of drum n bass or a twisted version of late 80’s house meets Nine Inch Nails inspired industrial, ALLFLAWS is able to strike a complimentary balance between lyrics and music, maintaining the dark and foreboding style which is typified on Amrak.  

As if making music wasn’t enough, ALLFLAWS has coupled with this release a spoken word video collaboration between Curran and filmmaker and VJ Swankoid titled Acid Face, a slightly unsettling but intriguing project that you can check out below.
