A Pride-full weekend

The official start of summer is upon us and with it comes SF Pride weekend 2011. As always there are plenty of music and club events surrounding the weekends festivities and a full list of official Pride related events is available here.

Plenty of venues get into the Pride spirit so here are our recommendations for all things musical this Pride weekend.

Thursday:

In San Francisco:
If you're a drum n bass fan then get the weekend started early at Mighty as Lincoln Barrett aka High Contrast will be making a rare swing through SF. He'll be supported by Bachelors of Science, Gridlok, and Two Cents with Colonel MC. Vessel also has a British DJ passing through as BASE celebrates it's 6th anniversary with Nic Fanciulli. If real musical instruments are your thing then Cafe Du Nord has a Swing Goth evening with Saints of Ruin, Foreign Cinema, and a closing set by Tokyo Raid.

Friday:

In San Francisco:
If you're in, near, or just passing through Bernal Heights early on Friday evening then pop into Wild West Side and check out The Heated along with The P's & Q's and Audrey Howard. The show gets going at 8pm and it's free. If the 1980's is more your thing then you can get your groove on at Kimo's with Era Escape along with Goodbye Gadget, Neon Anyway, and Fever Scene. The whole party kicks off at 9pm. Continuing the 80's theme and encompassing everything Jackson (The 5, Michael, and Janet), Mezzanine presents the 2nd Annual Moonwalker Event featuring 14 piece Jackson tribute band Foreverland. With last year's event selling out, get your tickets in advance here for $25.
If you like your trance then you'll probably be living at Ruby Skye this weekend as Friday sees the first of two nights featuring two of the biggest names in trance as Spundae have lured Paul Oakenfold out of his studio. This event is sure to be a sell-out so get your advance tickets here.

In the East Bay:

In an all East Bay take over The Shattuck Down Low is invaded by Oakland's HOTTUB along with Krishna, Religious Girls, plus DJ Miggy Stardust. The show starts at 9 and tickets are $7 in advance.

Staying in Berkeley 924 Gilman has a party for a split 7" release by Angries and Hooray for Everything with support by Neon Piss, Sweet Nothing, and DetachDolls. Doors are at 7.30 with the show starting at 8.

Saturday:

In San Francisco:

We start back at Ruby Skye for what is sure to be another packed house as Mixed Elements presents Dutch maestro Ferry Corsten who'll be supported by Tall Sasha. Advance tickets are available here.

At DNA Lounge Bootie SF celebrate Pink Saturday with the ultimate Queen of Pop mashup, Lady Gaga vs. Madonna night.

In the East Bay:
Tickets are still available for critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Brett Denen at the Fox Theater. The show starts at 8 with Dawes providing support.
If you require you music to be a little more energetic then across the street at The Uptown will be a punk extravaganza featuring Zeke with support from The Hookers, Black Wizard, and Electric Sister. Over at the Stork Club is an eclectic line-up featuring The Melatones, When it Rains, Shelter from the Storm, and The Cigarette Burns.
