New year, new music at Bay Area clubs
Happy New Year Wyldies! Now that we've all recovered from those NYE hangovers, it's time to tackle the most important resolution of 2012- get out more often and see live music at local venues! This weekend there are plenty of acts to choose from ranging from punk, to indie, to trance and everything in between.
This weekend we recommend checking out:
Thursday 1/12
San Francisco's own I The Mighty comes together with Sacramento's A Lot Like Birds and Seattle's Just Like Vinyl for a night of post-hardcore/progressive/indie rock at Bottom of the Hill. 9PM $10 ALL AGES SHOW
Also happening on Thursday night in San Francisco:
Them Guns, The Young Rapscallions, Abatis (a favorite of SW editors) and The Straight Ups take over Thee Parkside for an evening of local noise/fuzz rock fun. $7, show at 9PM.
Friday 1/13
Bay Area based, and nationally press-acclaimed, Silian Rail plays there first San Francisco show in months at the Hemlock Tavern with Elephant Rifle and Minot ( formerly Monument to Masses). This rock-centric line-up featuring bands known for their multi-layered sounds and serious musical chops is a steal at just $7. Show at 9:30pm.
Also on Friday
If you like you beats a little on the harder side and feel like putting on your dancing shows then Mezzanine is the place to be on Friday as Brodinski and Gesaffelstein bring their Bromance tour from France to SF. Ably assisted by Destructo, this night is sure to get your 2012 started with a bang. Need a sneak peak of what you're in for then check out the video below.

Electro trance fans should get themselves to Vessel just off Union Square to catch a set by John Beaver, a rising star on the international DJ circuit. Doors open at 10.
Also on the electronica tip, but for those into something a little more mellow, Mighty sees the return of Salted. This month, alongside local residents Miguel Migs and Julius Papp you'll be able to catch NY legend Joe Claussell. Tickets are a steal at $10 in advance or at the door before 11pm.
Sunday 1/15
Legendary reggae superstars The Wailers join forces with post-punkers Outernational at The New Parish in Oakland. Arguably the most intriguing (and revolutionary) lineup of the weekend this show is not to be missed. Presale tickets available for $25 here, or take your chances at the door. Show at 9PM
