Upcoming new releases

Image via www.paulweller.comMay has been a relatively quiet month for new album releases but the music industry has been gearing up for the typical Summer onslaught of new music. Here's a look at some of the releases scheduled for June.

June 1st:

  • Featuring the production talents of Youth, The Futureheads release their 4th album Chaos in the US, which promises a darker and more punk sound than previous albums.
  • The former Jam front man Paul Weller returns with the US release of his 10th studio album Wake Up The Nation.

  • Having severed ties with their major label, L.A's Rooney are set to release their 3rd album Eureka on their label California Dreamin'.
  • After a five year hiatus, the Scottish masters of power pop Teenage Fanclub return with Shadows ahead of a planned US tour in September.
  • Toronto's Tokyo Police Club follow up their 2008 release Elephant Shell with Champ.

June 15th:

  • After a period of silence that's lasted twenty years, Devo have regrouped and reappear with the album Something for Everybody.
  • Cellos and Colonial themes abound in Rasputina's new album Sister Kinderhook.

June 22nd:

  • Australian pop singer/songwriter Sia unleashes We Are Born, her 5th studio album.
  • Big beat proponents and dance floor pioneers The Chemical Brothers return with the release of their 7th studio release, Further.
  • Having already scored a #1 from the album with Not Afraid Eminem will finally release his 7th album Recovery.
  • Bloc Party front man Kele Okereke launches his electronica based debut solo album The Boxer.
  • Multiple Grammy winner Herbie Hancock launches his music and film project The Imagine Project which features collaborations with many artists including Pink, Seal, and Jeff Beck.

June 29th:

  • The debut album Acolyte by British electronica band Delphic finally get it's full US release.
  • Electropop duo 3OH!3 are sure to have more MTV favorites embedded in their 3rd album Streets of Gold.
