Weekend round-up

Blitz the Ambassador/Image via myspace/blitztheambassadorPunk, thrash, hardcore, hip-hop, breaks, techno, whatever you're into, there is something for everyone this weekend around the Bay Area.

Thursday:

We start in San Francisco at Vessel for some Thursday night dance floor action with Roger Sanchez as he brings his Stealth Live! tour to the Bay Area. At Popscene you can see local band Geographers supported by keepaway - as usual doors are at 9. The Rickshaw Stop is also showing some local love as they help celebrate the new single release by In The Belly of the Falcon who'll be joined by Tiny Television, and Sons of Eden.

In the North Bay at Mystic Theatre is singer/songwriter Kaki King supported by Australian duo An Horse.

Friday:

We kick off at Mighty as Sunset Promotions lure award winning producers NAPT and their breaks to SF for the first time. Sticking with the electronica theme you can also head to Mezzanine with Dirtybird crew including sets from Claude Vonstroke, J.Phlip, Christian Martin and more. At 103 Harriet is the return of the monthly drum and bass night Compression.

For something a little more organic Bottom of The Hill is featuring the soul sounds of Clem Snide plus The Whiskey and The Devil Chaplain plus The Heligoats. Hotel Utah features the dramatic sounds of Temporary Rock Formation plus the "semi-acoustic avant-punk fervor" of Tsigoti. Rockabilly and surf take over Rickshaw Stop as rock n roll hall of fame inductee Nokie Edwards of The Ventures alongside Deke Dickerson & the Ecco-fonics and Pollo Del Mar.

In the East Bay The New Parish has the live hip-hop of Blitz the Ambassador along with Oakland's The Park. At Stork Club are the punk rock sounds of Tough Tittie, Mystic Knights of the Cobra, Tremor Low, and Up Third. In Berkeley, support 924 Gilman by getting out and seeing Japan's CROW plus Conquest for Death, Cross Stitched Eyes, Acephalix, Surrender, and No Statik - doors are at 7.30.

Saturday:

1015 has heavyweight DJ's Dubfire and Ronski Speed plus many more. Red Devil Lounge has hip-hop pioneer KRS-ONE who'll be supported by East Bay natives C U Next Weekend. Thee Parkside has two  free shows. At 3pm it's Sugar Spun, The SkyFlakes, and Lost Puppy and starting at 9pm the second show features the reunion of SF's Motherlode, The Devil's Own, Belltower, and Brad Brooks. At The Independent are reggae outfit State Radio and Kelley James. At Café Du Nord is the 5th Annual Honky Tonk showdown featuring The Whiskey Richards, Misisipi Rider, The Bootcuts, and Toshio Hirano.

In the East Bay owl.com magazine gives you another chance to catch Geographers at The Uptown who'll also be supported by label mates Silver Swans and The Northern Key. 924 Gilman has Talk is Poison, Saviours, Iron Lung, Walls, In Disgust, and Cardboard Funeral.
