Weekend Music Round-up
Friday:
Starting in San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill it's Fuck Buttons, Growing, and Chen Santa Maria. At the Hemlock Tavern you will find Lover!, The Splinters, and Bass Drum of Death.
Mezzanine gives you a reason to go out with their recession busting, free before 11pm album release party for Claude VonStroke. Still in SOMA, 330 Ritch are also making it easy with free entry before 10.30 with rsvp to catch legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff. More hip-hop can be found at The Independent with Wu-Tang Alum Raekwon who's supported by Sellassie and Queen YoNasDa.
Over in Oakland at the Uptown you can catch Little Bridges, The Cleveland Browns, and The Boneless Children Foundation. At Cafe Van Kleef you can grab a greyhound and get down with local favorites Damon and the Heathens.
Saturday:
In San Francisco you can get your rock on at the Hotel Utah with The Parties, Blue Skies For Black Hearts, and Sugarspun. Also, at Bottom of the Hill it's Dear And The Headlights, Kinch, and The Distraction Fit.
With what seems to be a theme of the weekend, you can catch Salt 'N Pepa's DJ Spinderella at the Milk Bar in the Haight and at Temple, Strength in Flavor bring hip hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc to the Bay Area.
At Mezzanine you'll be able to catch Portuguese sensations and Sonar 2009 stand outs Buraka Som Sistema.
In the East Bay the Stork Club has Fourteenth Floor, Ari Shine, and Adam Bones. At the Uptown it's time to get down with New York's Night Train for their Soul Dance Clap competition.
