Charity scene: Discarded to Divine 2013

Here's how it works:
Local fashion and design students and working professionals are chosen to participate in the event. Each participant creates a one-of-a-kind handmade garment, accessory, or piece of home decor made entirely of recycled and cast off materials from Saint Vincent de Paul. Once the pieces are created, they are displayed at a special preview event at the de Young Museum, and then auctioned off by Saint Vincent de Paul Society at a special gala event with all proceeds going to a chosen charity.
This year all proceeds will go directly to the Saint Vincent de Paul Wellness center, a safe respite focusing on meditation, education, good nutrition, exercise and community support for those suffering from addiction and mental health issues.
Here's how you can get involved: Attend the Preview Night Friday, April 12th at the de Young Museum 5:30-8:30 PM. then buy tickets to the Salon and Auction at Gensler, Tuesday April 16th, and bid on your favorite pieces! Tickets available via pre-sale at eventbrite.
More information on the event, including a list of the student and professional designers participating in this year's event can be found at the official event website.
