Wylde idea: Mobile truck tailors coming to a town near you
In February of 2012, Menswear start-up Arden Reed launched an e-commerce site built around the idea that custom suits could be made more affordable if the measuring was done DIY. Now, a year later, the company is building on the positive response to their initial offering with a plan to take it one step further, a mobile truck that comes to your area and does the measuring for you.
How it will work: A mobile truck, complete with a 3D scanner (based on Xbox Kinect technology) will come to major metropolitan areas and take appointments for onsite measuring and custom suit ordering.
Why it's genius: The original idea of affordable custom suits sold through a website to keep costs down was great, but required the customer to be super accurate with the self measuring. Now with the mobile truck you can get the same expert measurements you'd get at a high-end boutique at the Arden Reed price point.
When you can get it: Unfortunately the mobile truck is still in the planning phase, but the company has launched a kickstarter project to raise the funds and hopefully get it off the ground beginning this summer.
What's in it for you: Backers of the project get a variety of perks ranging from a heartfelt thank you, to a full wardrobe of custom tailor suits. For more details check out the Kickstarter link above.
