Packing haiku

Dear Haikusue:

My best friend and I have planned to spend next year traveling in Europe. We will make Paris our home base, and then take trips to the surrounding countries.  Since we are going for an entire year, and will have an apartment in Paris, I don't see any reason that we need to travel light or limited bringing things like shoes/coats/hair dryers, but my best friend thinks going on a trip, no matter how long with more than one bag is insane.  How do I reason with her, and get her to understand, that an entire year is a long time, and I need more than 6 pairs of socks!
