Holiday haiku
istock photoDear Haikusue:
As a personal assistant to a high-profile executive I have a super demanding schedule and almost zero time off. My cell phone is on 24 hours a day and personal leave is a fantasy. The only time I can ever have a day off is during the holidays when my boss goes back east to visit her family and allows the office to shut down. More than anything I need a break for myself to relax and revive a little, but my family expects that I will come home and spend my few precious days off doing the holiday thing, complete with tons of arguing with my brothers and sisters, heavy drinking uncles, and sleeping on the couch for days on end. I honestly can not face the physical stress of it all after working so hard at my job all year. How do I convince them that for my sanity and health I need to NOT go home for the holidays this year?
