Fashion feature: Emerson Fall 2013
"YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!" the audience roared when superstar PR Maven Kelly Cutrone asked if they would be willing to wait a few more minutes for the Emerson Fall 2013 collection to start, to enable designer Jackie Emerson Fraser-Swan's family, who had been delayed by canceled flights, to arrive. This enthusiastic, and shockingly supportive answer from an infamously jaded crowd spoke volumes as to how the industry feels about this quickly rising Boston-based designer; Everybody loves Emerson!
What's not to love? Fraser-Swan has an infectious energy and wonderfully optimistic spirit that translates into everything she creates. A spirit so optimistic in fact that even a post-apocalyptic world can become a beautiful inspiration for her Fall 2013 collection:
"For the Fall/Winter 2013 season, I was inspired by the idea of a beautiful post-apocalyptic world. With all the talk of 12/12/12, and "end of the world" movies coming out, I thought that it might be fun to play with that notion. In my story, the Earth would come back to life in a much more beautiful way than ever imagined." - Designer Jackie Fraser-Swan.
And let's be clear, if the Emerson Fall 2013 collection is what the apocalypse looks like, then sign me up to be left behind! I am ready for a world-wide do over in heavenly sheer plaids draped into spectacular ball gowns, luxe black leather bombers with deep eggplant fur collars, and slim pencil skirts in houndstooth and crimson red with razor-sharp construction and plenty of punk-rock attitude (in the nicest possible way.) Aren't we all? So I say, let's follow Jackie Fraser-Swan into the pretty apocalypse.
