There are always so many somber notes at the Fall shows, whether it's New York, Paris, or Tokyo, Fall often means designers are picturing their collections both metaphorically and literally in the the black. But for Fall 2012 there was a surprisingly popular trend towards the boldest of bold hues: bright red.

Whether it was blood or brick the allure of this sexiest of hues could not be denied. Some of our favorite takes on the trend included:
Red on red plaid at L.A.M.B.
Retro-red glamour at Jenny Packham
Red-infused prints at Marc by Marc Jacobs
Red-carpet red at Monique Lhuiller
Red lace with an edge at Collette Dinnigan
Red lazer cut layers at Somarta
Red race-track inspired corsets at The Blonds

Nervous about going balls-out bold with red this season? We suggest starting slow by adding a few bright accents to your basic black looks until the color feels comfortable. Or, simply throw on a neutral outerwear piece over an all-red ensemble to quiet down the color, a look we loved on the Michael Kors runway.
