Fashion feature: Joy Cioci Fall 2012

image:S.Whittle for Style WyldeIt was a technicolor dreamscape at Joy Cioci Fall 2012 as chiffon dresses and suits in a myriad of prints from bright blue to fiery orange were laid out as far as the eye could see. (or at least as far as the tiny box space at Lincoln Center permitted!) Intermixed with the light and bright pieces were heavily textured looks in more neutral tweeds and furs that were no less visually impactful than their hyper-pigmented counterparts.

Inspired by the idea of "seductive survival" and "sexual manipulation", Cioci "manipulated" her fabrics through dying and washing techniques and through combining contrasting materials (jersey, lace and animals furs) to create the one-of-a-kind prints that gave the collection a haute couture, yet primal vibe.

All of this process and technique did leave some of the ensembles feeling like "a lot of look" for us mere mortals, but undoubtedly the right girl with the right attitude could easy make them work!
