Silk taffetas, bold prints, floor length skirts and miles and miles of sequins, the Naeem Khan Fall 2012 collection had everything Hollywood's A list actresses look for come award season. So it's no wonder that the designer counts names such as Penelope Cruz, Emily Blunt, Kim Catrall and even First Lady Michelle Obama on his client list. It's also no wonder that season after season at The Golden Globes, and The Academy Awards the name Naeem Khan is so often uttered in the response to the question, Who are you wearing?

So what does a designer do when he's already reached the pinnacle of success in his chosen niche? Judging by the fall collection he pushes the envelope, steps away from the expected staid styles, and offers up a bevy of bold new ideas for the coming year.

Granted, some of Khan's looks felt a bit busy for mere mortals with swirling polka dots and dizzying almost zebra-like prints, but the majority of the gowns were of the best-dressed list worthy.

Favorites in the collection included the drop-dead shimmering gown with the plunging back (pictured top, detail right), a floor-length beaded and fringed black gown that was anything but basic (pictured right) and a dropped waist midi-length cocktail dress that glittered with 1920's charm.
