Fashion Feature: Libertine Fall 2012

For many designers, New York Fashion Week is a chance to explore the darker elements of their personalities. Collection after collection (especially among the younger and emerging designers) is set in pitch black rooms with funeral dirges playing and models clad in layers of black showing off their most melancholy of stomps. Needless to say it all gets a little tedious after a few days. Even the most morbid of writers can't help but feel a little gothed-out, and are left wondering why is everyone so bummed out?

Thankfully, designer Johnson Hartig of the label Libertine created a Fall 2012 collection that was a visual antidepressant, resetting the entire mood of fashion week to one that celebrated style, creativity and a love for life.

Hartig's vibrant personality and light hearted attitude permeated the collection in plaids and glittering skulls hand made from paiettes. The looks were young, fun and noticeably invigorated the audience, who roared with applause as the models did their final dance down the runway in a celebration that seemed to declare: Life isn't so serious, enjoy the ride!
