Vibrant, alive, almost shimmering with energy, passion and expression, these are the phrases often used to describe the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. These same phrases also came to mind early today when viewing the Mara Hoffman Spring 2012 collection, which was partially inspired by Kahlo's work.

Never one to shy away from color and print, Mara Hoffman has garnered attention throughout the industry in previous seasons with her signature boho-international style. But this collection, which Hoffman lovingly referred to as "Mexican Mamas" eclipses all previous work with its sheer fantastical beauty and exuberance.

From the custom designed prints that lit-up tea-length column dresses in sheer fabrics, to the intricate weaving on the backs of jump suits and rompers every piece was a feast for the eyes, and every piece seemed destined for closets of it-girls everywhere.
