Sneak Peek: Son Jung Wan Spring 2012

original sketch courtesy of Son Jung Wan

One of our favorite designers to debut at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week last February, Son Jung Wan, a mega-star designer in her native Korea, offered up a sumptuous, yet edgy collection of separates that ran the gamut between red-carpet ready and downtown casual cool. For Spring 2012, we just couldn't wait until Saturday when her collection hits the runways at Lincoln Center to see what she had planned.  So we asked Son Jung for a preview sketch and a little background on her inspiration for the new season.

Here is what she had to say:

“I have a love for the Isle of Capri.  From the Piazzetta to Faraglioni Rocks, every inch of Capri is steeped with beautiful views and awe inspiring colors of nature.  My favorite restaurant Da Tonino, a short walk from the Piazzetta, sits hidden among the vegetation and is our family’s favorite restaurant.  The shaded terrace is filled with the beautiful, stylish Capri locals and mainland guests.  La Fontelino is my favorite rock beach.   The white Sangria and fresh bowl of olives are a special treat my husband and I love to enjoy by the sea.  Of course, no visit to Capri is complete without a trip and swim in the Blue Grotto.  The rich beautiful blue hue that sparkles through the grotto gave me inspiration for the Spring 2012 colors.”
