Fashion Feature: Betsey Johnson Spring 2012

During Mercedes Benz Fashion Week the collections can be very serious business. Often reflecting current events and themes such as economic polarization of society, sexual fetishism, or pending environmental destruction the clothing on display becomes as much a political statement as it is a commercial product.

And then there is the Betsey Johnson show. Eternally light-hearted and free spirited, Johnson has dominated the hearts of young women for decades, and for good reason: Betsey just wants to have fun.

image:Samantha AdlerThe Spring 2012 collection was no exception, bursting with color, energy and Johnson's own bubbly personality the pieces erupted on to the catwalk in an unapologetic celebration of life. And although it could be argued that nothing terribly new or inventive was shown, that celebration was a welcome one, and served to remind us all that life is beautiful.
