The Jazz Age, Josephine Baker, and HBO's critically praised series Boardwalk Empire all served as clear influences on designer Douglas Hannant, who showed his Fall 2011 collection at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan on Wednesday.
image: S. Whittle for Style WyldeSilk dresses cut on the bias, well-tailored suits, luxe furs, and a bevy of adorable cloche hats with a modern streamlined cut highlighted the collection, and delighted the appreciative upper west side socialite crowd in attendance.
Although definitely not the most avant-garde collection of the week, the attention to detail, perfect construction and irresistible Ziegfield-Follies-esque drama of the presentation made it easy to picture Hannant with a major hit on his hands.
