Wylde idea: Alive, a Visionary Digital Fashion Show

Stylist, designer and video mixer, Marina Fini  is gearing up to change the way you think of fashion, with Alive a Visionary Digital Fashion Show which she debuts at Bianca Starr Boutique tomorrow night.  One part runway presentation, and one part performance art piece , the show will feature mixed media images projected on to clothing worn by models, and willing audience participants, to create an interactive fashion environment where wardrobe is every evolving.  

Intrigued by the inspiration, and complicated production of the event  SW caught up with Fini via phone to discuss the performance.

SW: Exactly what is Alive, how will it work?

MF: The show will be in two parts.  During the first part our models and dancers will be on stage. I will project the images I have mixed on to them. This will allow members of the audience to get an idea of how the projections work, what it looks like.  During the second part of the event we invite members of the audience, whom have worn white or light colored clothing to the event to join the show on stage .  The clothing needs to be light, the background will be black, so the white clothing allows the projects to show up.

SW: So the people will be like video screens? What inspired you to do this?

MF: I began video mixing about a year ago, while performing I started noticing how people looked when they walked in front of the projector. I was struck by the beauty of it, and I started dreaming of doing a fashion show that used video mixing.  I love the idea of how temporary it is. 

SW: In addition to live interactive fashion shows any plans for more fashion projects in the future?

MF: Currently I am a stylist, and a photographer  but I am also working on a line of active wear, body suits and leggings, that will incorporate the projected images into patterns. I am working on the silk screening right now.

Marina Fini's  ALIVE A VISIONARY DIGITAL FASHION SHOW will take place at Bianca Starr Boutique, 3552 20th Street (btwn Valencia and Mission) from 8-10pm this Thursday, 7/15.
