Raucous round 3
Scion's Fashion Feud Rounds 1, and 2, set a high bar for entertainment and gave San Francisco the opportunity to support the local fashion scene while sipping cocktails and witnessing the creative process in a condensed one hour format.
Last night's final preliminary round, which pitted Gail B Shrive against Lauren Mendoza matched the level of the first two and gave the exuberant crowd in attendance a good idea of what to expect in the finals.
At 8:15 the show began as the designers were handed bags of mystery fabric donated by Mood Fabrics in New York. Both competitors looked concerned as the colorful fabrics were unveiled, but it was Mendoza whom received the apparent handicap for the event with a loud table-cloth worthy print.
By the 30-minute mark, the audience had begun to form am opinion, and shouted out support to their favorites, as the designers took a break to discuss their ideas, mishaps and progress with emcee for the evening Adam Bauer.
"I had some trouble with the machine, but I have it under control now" Shrive admitted.
"Well" Mendoza seemed hesitant as she replied,"I am doing this bubble thing for the skirt, we'll see how that goes."
While both designers impressed with well sewn garments the winner was decided by the night's judge, blogger Lorraine Sanders of SF Indie Fashion, as Gail B. Shrive whose bandeau-top with a tank dress overlay featured the all important 'use of a button', despite the well designed and constructed bubble skirt created by Mendoza.
Depending on where you were standing in the audience it was either the correct choice, or a miscarriage of style-justice, as the audience was not shy about shouting their support/dissatisfaction with the outcome.
"Boring!" A woman standing near the SW team shouted "SAME OLD SAME OLD!"
"GO GAIL!!!" Another screamed "Girl you rocked it!!!"
Whatever your thoughts on the event were, (or whom you were there to support!) one thing was very clear by the end of the night, Fashion Feud is now a San Francisco institution.

The author of this article got it so right! There was a terrible miscarriage of justice. Lauren's outfit was by far the most attractive!
