Backstage beauty report: Reem Acra Fall 2014
Sleek and streamlined beauty was paired with ornately beaded and embroidered gowns at Reem Acra Fall 2014. Here is what the teams from Art Partner, led by famed stylist Didier Malige, OPI Nails and Makeup Guru Pat McGrath did to create the look.
First up, the hair.
"I call it a couture ponytail" Malige told SW backstage at the show as he demonstrated the sleek almost wet-look pony he was creating using Rene Furterer products. "Because, like couture clothes, this look has underpinning which give it support and structure."
Products used in creating the look included:
Rene Furterer Fioravanti Shine Enhancing No Rinse Detangling Spray. To smooth the front and give hair extra shine
Rene Furterer Vegetal Sculpting Gel to provide a foundation for shaping
Rene Furterer After Sun Leave In Moisturizing Spray, to add additional moisture and prolong the wet-look of hair
Rene Furterer Glossing Spray to add a super-high shine finish
Rene Furterer Lissea Thermal Protection Spray to protect ends before flat-ironing
Rene Furterer Finishing Spray to hold hair without out stiffness or stickiness.
While that was going on, over on the other side of the room Pat McGrath and her beauty team were creating a pretty, yet simple and pared down look. The focal point of the look (the dark lined eyes) was created using Covergirl's Bombshell Intensity Liner on the waterline followed by a "buffed to a subtle shadow" black hue on the lids.
Rounding out the effortless glam look was an almost-nude hue on the nails, Barre My Soul by OPI.
The final effect: a tough, sleek, unfussy backdrop for Reem Acra's gorgeous gowns.
