Backstage beauty report: Band of Outsiders Spring 2014

Dick Page works on a model backstage at Band of Outsiders/Image:C.Hope for Style Wylde"Easy and open, radiates a strong warmth." was the description Creative Director of Shiseido Dick Page gave backstage for his gorgeously glowing beauty look designed to compliment the Band of Outsiders Spring 2014 collection.

Here's what Page and his team did to create the look:

For eyes, using the concept of a "reverse raccoon" effect  Page and his team simply swept Shiseido Shimmering Eye Cream Color in Yuba all over the lid and blended upwards towards the brow. The same color was then applied "deep along the lower lash line for a pale halo effect of untanned skin."

Then for the skin Page and his team "warmed up the complexion" using a "band of tone" from the Shisiedo New Face Color Enhancing Trio in Plum, along the cheeks and brushed towards the nose. Bronzer was then added to amplify the effect around the eyes, and finally cheeks were sculpted with a beige shade from the Trio added to lower cheeks.

For lips, the look was simple, natural but with a slight contrast. Shiseido New Lacquer Rouge Gloss in Debut was used all over the lip with just a touch of Shiseido New Shimmering Cream Eye Color in Yuba added to create definition on the cupid's bow.

"I love this look" Page told Style Wylde backstage."It's nice to do something simple, and pretty for this collection."

Upstairs in the René Furterer hair area, the look was also unfussed, but the inspiration came from an entirely different direction....

“Scott [Sternberg, designer of Band of Outsiders] is a big fan of Jan Brady! The hair is very California, very ‘70s. For his collection, Scott was very influenced by Jan Brady going to the beach.”  Didier Malige of Art Partner, who used René Furterer products exclusively to create his hair look, said back stage. And it was America's favorite 1970's middle sister whom the look was based upon.  Here's what they did to create that "Just groovy" Jan look:

The team started on clean, dry hair and made a low side part so that hair falls to the right. Next, starting at the roots, the team misted hair generously with René Furterer FIORAVANTI shine enhancing no rinse detangling spray, combing it through and massaging it in with the hands.  Once all the hair is sprayed, they repeated this step, from roots to ends, several times. "You can use a lot of the FIORAVANTI detangling spray because it doesn’t get greasy and has a very good texture." Malige said. Next, in front the team swept the hair to the right of the part across the forehead.

Next, to secure the side-swept hair in a soft wave behind the right ear, the team put in two bobby pins right above the ear. (one of the stylists told SW, that the pins were made to match each model's hair so they wouldn't show up on the runway).

Once pins were secure the team continued  building the texture with more FIORAVANTI detangling spray and hand ruffling hair for a soft touchable look using blow-dryers.

"NO!" Malige, told a stylist who had very precisely parted a models hair and began combing while the SW team watched. "It's not so much done, it's just touched and soft." Malige corrected.

As a final step, before models headed to the runway,  hair in back from crown to ends was sprayed with René Furterer VOLUMEA volumizing conditioning spray no rinse and massaged in with the hands.
