Drugstore deal: Physicians Formula Mineral Correcting Powder

image via: Physicians Formula.comDrugstore deal is an ongoing series on Style Wylde where we discover the fantastic beauty products that won't break your budget, and that are easily found at drugstores nationwide. The latest discovery: Physicians Formula Mineral Correcting Powder.

Red blotches, break-outs, dark circles and general skin-dullness is a reality when you travel for work. And when "travel" means going to New York or Tokyo for fashion week all those seemingly not-so-serious skin issues feel monstrous. I mean seriously, who wants to be sitting next to a bevy of starlets, style bloggers and editors looking like an extra from Dawn of the Dead?  I don't!

Which brings us to this month's Drugstore Deal: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear, Talc Free Mineral Correcting Powder.  The swirling colors of this drugstore dynamo first caught my eye due to their huge resemblance to a similar compact I had years ago from Givenchy. The Givenchy version was a gift from a beauty industry boss, and was my go-to product for fixing everything from hang-over tell-tale signs to mid winter blahs. I loved that little compact, I did not, however, love its $60 price point. So I used it sparingly, and when it was gone I forgot all about it... for about 10 years.

Then just a few months ago I was shopping my local drugstore for false eyelashes, rice paper oil absorbers, and a variety of other "survive fashion week" beauty products when I spotted this baby hanging on the Physicians Formula rack.  I popped it in my basket, and although I was SURE there was no way that at $13.99 it could work as well as the pricey Givenchy version I decided to try it out.

Fast forward 3 months, after two major work related trips, an ill-advised dabbling with Retin-A and tons of unhappy complexion moments in between I am sold!  On the no-sleep days of fashion week it brightened and lightened dark circles. On the angry Retin-A induced breakout mornings it soothed and calmed, and on those WTF more period-pimples afternoons it seamlessly covered.  I really can't find a single aspect of this compact that wasn't as good, if not better than the high-priced version I had loved so much. And at under-$20 it's an insane drugstore deal.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear, Talc Free Mineral Correcting Powder is available online at ULTA, or at drugstores nationwide.
