Backstage beauty: NAHM Fall 2012

The NAHM Fall 2012 collection with its delicate prints and winter floral color palette, required a modern beauty look that would accent the pieces without overpowering. To create this delicate beauty balance designers Nary Manivong and Alexandria Hilfiger turned to industry professionals from MAC, AVEDA and CND Nails.

Here's what they did:

image:S.Whittle for Style WyldeFirst nails were given a strong neutral color that was softened with pink overtones. CND nails key artist Angie Wiggle described the hue as "a layer of two CND colors, Desert Suede and Creamy Cameo with a matte topcoat to go with the fresh look of the collection." Wiggle went on to explain, "Color is applied in very thin layers, to ensure a perfect application, and as all CND nail colors are super fast drying it's easy to do backstage in a time crunch, but we also get a helping hand from CND Solar Spray, a conditioning fast drying oil that draws solvents from the lacquer and keeps skin soft with rich conditioners." 

Moving on to make-up the MAC team, led by Victor Cembellin created  "doll-like skin and cheeks with an urban eye and tomboyish brow." To do this Cembellin had his team first perfect skin with MAC Face and Body Foundation. Then eyes were lined with Minted Eye Kohl and set with MAC Aqua Pro eye shadow before being given several coats of MAC False Lash Mascara. Next cheeks were given a glow with Something Special Cremeblend blush while lips were "slightly concealed" with MAC Face and Body Foundation.

To complete the look, hair was pulled into a modern rolled "faux bob" by lead stylist Jon Reyman and his AVEDA team. The bobs were smoothed back in sections and curled under for a sleek, seamless, completely pin free appearance.
