With all the talk of Tokyo around our offices these days we can't help but get into the Japanese-shopping spirit. And thanks to the major influence Japanese art, fashion and interior design has in the Bay Area and throughout the West Coast there are plenty of places to find a little bit of Japan locally. Some of our favorite expected, and unexpected places to shop include:
An obvious choice for the Japanese Fashion and Culture fan, the New People World Building In San Francisco's Japan Town boasts two floors of fashion and home decor shopping, plus cafes, and art galleries all under one roof. Our favorite spots: The second floor store in store flagships for h. Naoto and Sou Sou. When your style is classic Japanese, or more gothic loli is spirit there is something for everyone.
Despite the shopping center's sad history, this Ichiban Kan location remains a favorite in the Bay Area. Less touristy and picked over than its Japan Town sister the South City shop offers nearly everything you can image under one roof from Japanese Beauty to Housewares at very reasonable prices.
