San Francisco gears up for weekend style events

image courtesy of WorkshopIt's been a wild week, running after the NYC fashion scene getting notes on the shows, and oggling all of the collections, but this whole east-coast focus can leave us westies feeling a little glum, and thinking were's our fashion party?

We may not have a true fashion week as of now,  but we do have a series of style and shopping events kicking off tonight around the bay that can help even the most NYC envious, feel a little bit more home-town pride, including:

Tonight:

Dish on Fashion at the W Hotel . Promoted as a new dining and style series at XYZ, dish promises to serve up selections from local designers along side each course of the menu.

Fall sale at Fit Clothing. Nope that's not a typo, while other area retailers are trying to tempt you with reductions on SUMMER items, Oakland's Fit is blowing fall right in with 20% all Fall merchandise (including shoes and accessories)

Friday: Beat back the post-fashion week blues by checking out new arrivals from Rachel Comey and other must-know names at Anica Boutique .

 Saturday:

Swap Not Shop, Oakland's biannual eco-friendly event kicks off at Soundwave studios from 3-9pm. Bring a bag of gently used, clean clothes.  $5 admission with bag.

Workshop comes to the Western Addition. From the people that brought you Indie Mart, Workshop is a creative destination for learning and lessons.  Take a sewing class, learn to silk screen, or simply improve your button making skills at the Mc Allister and Baker space.  Saturday's grand opening party goes from 7-11pm and features music, drinks and the chance to meet SF's creative crowd.

Sunday:

The Museum of Craft and Folk arts, Threads and Wares at Fort Mason center. Sustainable fashion and housewares are the focus as author Katye Terry demonstrates projects from her recent book Appliqué Your Way: 35 Pretty Projects and Patterns.
