Dead Can Dance release 'Amnesia' first track from Anastasis

With a strong underground following in both the Gothic and World Music circles, Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, the London based duo known as Dead Can Dance, produced some of the most musically inventive and influential music of the late 1980's and 1990's. With the 1993 release Into the Labyrinth,  (featuring the goth-club staple The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove, which can be heard here for fans in need of a nostalgic fix )  and the follow-up Toward the Within, the band grew to new heights in popularity, culminating in their 1996  release Spiritchaser, which made it to #1 on The Billboard World Music Chart.

Unfortunately, as seems to be the standard for innovative artists, just two short years after Spiritchaser was released Perry and Gerrard went their separate ways both releasing a myriad of solo projects, but  leaving their combined legacy to be carried on only through remastered releases and box sets.

Why the lesson in vintage alternative music?  As we've mentioned previously, Dead Can Dance are back and going on out on a world tour this summer. The tour will be in support of their first studio album in over a decade Anastasis, and the first track from that album, Amnesia was released online this morning.
