Outside In: Bay Area live music round-up

Image via Outside Lands

This weekend the local music scene is dominated by the expanded Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park. With most tickets having already sold out (some 3-day and single day VIP tickets are still available here) and a huge line-up of acts across 3 days there's plenty for all musical tastes. For those attending, SW recommends you check out the likes of Ellie Goulding, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Joy Formidable, San Jose's The Limousines, Eskmo, Deadmau5, and Little Dragon for starters.

If festivals are not your thing there's still plenty of other music available this weekend around the Bay including;

Friday

Fresh from her performance at Outside Lands earlier in the day Erykah Badu will also be taking care of DJ duties at Mezzanine with an opening set from D-Sharp and an appearance from old school rappers EPMD

For fans of electronica Friday night is a double-header with Brazil's answer to Daft Punk, The Twelves, touching down at Mighty courtesy of Blasthaus. Support on the night comes from Nisus, Girls N Boomboxes, and White Mike. Not too far away the creative minds behind Blow Up and Popscene bang heads as they present Fred Faulke in his first live SF appearance. Popscene scoundrels Aaron, Miles, and Nako will be in the lounge whilst Omar and Jeffrey Paradise will also be in the main room. The show is 18+ and tickets are $14.50/$16.50 in advance and $20 on the door.

Saturday

If Friday is for the electronica fans, Saturday is for fans of Swing as Slim's welcomes Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys along with Eilen Jewell and Zoe Muth and The Lost High Rollers. Up on Market Street at Cafe Du Nord Swing Goth return for their Bowie Ball #2 featuring Scission and The Tiger Club.

On a slightly different note, you can always show some local music love by going to see SW favorites Tokyo Raid at Kimos with Madriz from Spain, Dmitry Wild and the Invaders, and Fuckawfs.
