Local Love: Eclectic music is on the bill this weekend around the bay

Whether your scene is headbangers, indie folk rockers, or euro BoomSwingkids there is something for ever predilection (music wise) this weekend around the San francisco Bay Area including:
Friday in SF:
Hemlock Tavern offers up two local shows to kick off the weekend. First at 6PM San Francisco/LA based trio The City, and Berkeley's Roland Finn deliver a directly after work pop/punk/folk/rock extraganza to help you shake of your work week woes. Then at 9:30 PM Santa Cruz's The Groggs headline a hard 70's power rock show with support from Montra and True Foes. First show $5, later show $6.

Saturday in SF:
San Francisco's favorite  buskers turned bonafide indie up and comers, The Ferocious Few  take the stage at Slims after an an interstate tour that included performing at SXSW and opening for the inconic Cyndi Lauper. Catch these neofolk/rockabilly/hipster bluegrass stars before the go supernova. $13 doors at 8, show at 9PM. Supporting acts include Charles Gonzalez and the Stero Glitter + Magic Leaves.

Not quite live but definitely worth exploring in the East Bay:
A good time is always had at Oakland's Cafe Van Kleef, and Saturday May 21st is no exception as BoomSwing Cabaret,an electro-swing extravaganza featuring local djs and can can girls, is sure to shake-up the tiny boite. Never heard of Boomswing? You will. Part 40's big band swing and part electro-dance Boomswing is quickly becoming a major force in hybrid music across Europe, and considering San Francisco's long love affair with all things swing, the genre is destined to go big in the bay very, very soon. To get a taste of Boomswing check out the Caravan Palace video below.
