Weekend round-up
Thursday:
SF: We start at Vessel as BASE give house & techno fans a chance to catch uber DJ Steve Lawler in this intimate venue. Popscene have lured Spanish outfit Delorean to 330 Ritch in support of their recent release Subiza along with Teengirl Fantasy - tickets on the door are limited so get there early. For something a little more raucous, get down to Slims for Belfast punk rockers Stiff Little Fingers along with Culann's Hounds. Rickshaw Stop has The Hundred Days plus local boys Scissors for Lefty and SoCal's Voxhaul Broadcast.
East Bay: The New Parish has hip hop outfit Themselves plus Portland's Electro-acoustic Talkdemonic. There's more hardcore punk to be had at The Uptown with The Filth, Fracas, Verbal Abuse, and One in the Chamber.
Friday:
Beats Rhymes and Life fundraiser this Friday at Club SixSF: In need of some swing goth? If so get yourself down to DNA Lounge for the Death Rock Sock Hop with Lee Presson and the Nails, Fromagique, and Barry Syska's Fantasy Orchestra. In what seems to be a weekend of punk, there's more to be had at Bottom of The Hill with Angry Samoans, Bum City Saints, Fabulous Disaster, and Headslide. For something a little more mellow the Hemlock Tavern has beach-pop outfit Sonny & the Sunsets plus Wounded Lion, and John Wesley Coleman. Café Du Nord has a Samba Social Club with Noite Do Forro Festa Junina, Forro Brazuca, and DJ Fausto Sousa. At The Independent it's the first of two nights for New Orleans natives The Radiators. At Club Six is the SF vs. east Bay BART Series Beat Battle which is a fundraiser for Beats, Rhymes and Life, a program that works with at-risk youth using Therapeutic Hip Hop Activity Groups.
East Bay: 924 Gilman opens its doors UK rockers Subhumans and A-Heads plus MDC and Sahn Maru. At Stork Club it's time for another Death Rock Dive Bar as they celebrate two years of parties with Tongue & Teeth and Razor Skyline. The Starry Plough in Berkeley has a more relaxing lineup featuring Alright Class, All My Pretty Ones, Go Slowpoke, and Four Players.
Saturday:
SF: Starting at Mezzanine as they see the return of Soul Slam this time featuring another MJ vs. Prince throw down with DJ Spinna. Down at Kellys Mission Rock we see the triumphant return on Blow Up with DJ's Rico Tubbs and Le Castle Vania. There's another SF party staple at DNA Lounge with Bootie this week featuring Australia's DJ Cutloose. More DJ's are to be had at Ruby Skye as in demand Hernan Cattaneo will be at the 10 Annual White Party. At the Fillmore The Glitch Mob are touring in support of their recent debut album Drink The Sea. At the Red Devil Lounge it's a locals night with Berkeley based Funk outfit The Society plus San Francisco's Kate Isenberg, Annie Bacon, and Austin Willacy.
East Bay:
In Oakland The Uptown has some emotronic delights with Sugar and Gold, Sir Lord Von Raven, Planet Booty, and DJ Hothobo. The New Parish has Danish duo Quadron. In Berkeley Shattuck Down Low has a night of dancehall, dubstep and more as Angel Magik presents Tropical Bass.
