Weekend round-up

Thursday

SF: We kick off the weekend at The Independent we have Athlete who'll be supported by Carney. This week Popscene lured LA girl band The Like to 330 Ritch. Rickshaw Stop has a release party for My First Earthquake's new EP who'll be supported by The Downer Party and The Attachments. Bottom of The Hill has a mixed back with The Moanin Dove, Geographer, Leopold and His Fiction, and DJ John Vanderslice. Café Du Nord has a bevy of belly dancers who'll be performing to music by Electric Sister, Castles In Spain, and Deeva. There's some skater punk to be had at Slim's with U.S. Bombs plus The Forgotten and Druglords of the Avenues.

East Bay: In Berkeley Shattuck Down Low has Reggae and Dancehall legend Barrington Levy. In Oakland Stork Club has something a little different with an evening of dubstep featuring Ultraviolet, Megalodon, Dubpirates, The Doctor, and Mr Brandon. At The New Parish (((folkYEAH!))) presents Bert Jansch and the Pegi Young Band.

 

Friday

SF: Techno fans should get themselves down to Mighty as they bring Detroit's Carl Craig and Amp Fiddler playing live. Drum n Bass fans can head down to 103 Harriet for the monthly Compression this month with Jungle heavyweight DJ Hype headlining. At Mezzanine, Burning Man's Persian Excursion Camp present Oasis with JuJu, Reyka, Lotus Drops, Nonagon, and Corbett. At Ruby Skye Spundae presents breaks master DJ Icey. Over at Triple Crown is the official Bay Area release party for Kon & Amir's Off Track Vol III album with DJs Sureshot and Freddy & Marky. There are more beats to be had at the Rockit Room with Tha Dogg Pound live on stage. For something a little harder Thee Parkside has Thou, Moloch, Fell Voices, and Pale Chalice

East Bay: If punk is more your thing then 924 Gilman is opening its doors for a packed lineup including Stellar Corpses, The Rocketz, Bum City Saints and more. In Oakland at The Uptown are the soulful The Bellrays along with garage rock band Sassy and pop punk outfit Girls With Guns.

 

Saturday

SF: We start at 1015 with some electronica as Lee Burridge returns to the Bay Area for one of his mammoth sets along with locals Miguel Migs, Julius Papp, Franky Boissy and more. ?uestlove will be bringing his DJ skills to 330 Ritch alongside DJ Apollo. Jeffrey Paradise and Richie Panic return to the Paradise Lounge for another club 1994. Stars start the first of two nights at The Independent where they'll be supported by Dead Child Start. Over at Red Devil Lounge it's a night of tributes with Police tribute band Stung plus Tom Petty lovers Petty Theft. Hotel Utah is having another super June with Super Adventure Club, PC Munozs Left Hook, and Punk Funk Mob.

East Bay: In Berkeley at Shattuck Down Low are Zion I for the CD release of Amp Live's new album. Also in Berkeley at Starry Plough are The Dedicated Maniacs and Kate Kilbane. Ska fans should head to 924 Gilman for Ska night with Chris Murray, Monica & the Explosions, Monkey, Bohunks, Boss 501, and Down Syndrom. Over at Oakland's The New Parish you'll find The Warlocks with Lumerians, Gypsy Moonlight Band, and The Meek.
