Weekend Music Round-up

With everyone slowing emerging from the first work week of 2010 it's a somewhat quiet weekend for live music around the Bay but there's still plenty to get out and hear. Here's our run-down of favorite places to frequent this weekend.

Friday: In San Francisco The Hotel Utah has Beatbeat Whisper, Mia Riddle, Ari Vais, and Moomaw - Doors are at 9 and the cover is $6. Bottom of the Hill has an all ages show with I The Mighty, Scissors for Lefty, Via Coma, and Fighting the Villain - Doors are at 8 and it's a $10 cover. The Hemlock Tavern has a packed line-up with Dominant Legs, Young Prisms, Woodsman, and Weekend - show starts at 9.30 and the cover is $7. Under 21? No problem as it's the weekly Friday night 18+ party Blow Up at The RickShaw Stop.

Saturday: It's an early start at The RickShaw Stop as they present Kimya Dawson supported by Your Heart Breaks and Angelo Spencer - doors are at 4.30 and the show starts at 5. At Cafe Du Nord you can catch instrumentalists Lymbyc Systym ably supported by Helios and Cloud Archive - doors at 8.30 and the show is at 9.30. Making a move in 2010 are Bootie as they've relocated their mashup sessions to Mezzanine - doors open at 9 and it's a $6 cover before 10. Over in Oakland at the Stork Club you'll find a packed line-up with Abrupt, Steeples, Bad Coyotes, and Butcher Cover.

Tuesday: If you weren't able to get tickets to catch the cross-cultural sounds of Dengue Fever then fear not, they've added a second show this coming Tuesday at The Independent. They'll be supported by  Mist and Mast and DF TRAM - the show kicks off at 8.00.
