New Music - Toddla T

Image Via Toddla TIf you’ve ever wondered what a dancehall/ragga album from a white guy from the north of England might sound like then look no further. Toddla T has emerged over the last few years as a talented, dance floor filling DJ and this, the debut album from the 23 year old, is surely a sign of great things to come.

Skanky Skanky breaks the mould of music from Sheffield and gets away from the alternative music output of bands like Arctic Monkeys with an album featuring drum’n’bass, dub, ragga, dancehall and even dance music.  The album rips through from start to finish and is full of energy. With Boom DJ getting the album off on the right foot with a drum’n’bass/raga crossover to the frivolity of Rice And Peas and Manabadman featuring a Willy Wonka take through to the slower Rebel featuring British poet Benjamin Zephaniah. The album also features other outstanding tracks like Road Trip and Shake It that are sure to get you up and moving.

With appearances on the album from Roots Manuva and many others there’s plenty for people to go at with no two tracks sounding the same. Filled with little skits at the start of many of the tracks you get a real sense of fun. If you’re looking for something a bit different to the usual rock or dance music  fare then head to the shops and buy this album.

Available on Amazon, iTunes and at good record shops Skanky Skanky is one to look out for.
