Fashion events highlight JPop Summit Festival this weekend

Baby the Stars Shine Bright Fashion Show/ Image: DNolan for Style WyldeHere in San Francisco, where we don't have a single fashion event that can come close to rivaling those in New York, London, Paris or Milan, it's often difficult to get enthusiastic  about what is going on in style locally. But this weekend's JPOP Summit Festival offers a bevy of only-in-SF fashion events from street fashion styling competitions, to panel discussions with Tokyo based designer h. Naoto that are well worth getting excited about.

Superstar designer h.Naoto will preview his first ever U.S. Flagship store with a pop-up shop at New People World during the  JPOP Summit Festival.  Be the first to shop the innovative, creative designs before the collection is widely available.

Saturday August 27th, 1:15-2:15PM SOU・SOU Fashion Show

Japanese label SOU・SOU  will present their first ever U.S. fashion show showcasing the new collaborative line created by the company in partnership with New People.  Inspired by the concept of the art of modern designs meeting traditional Japanese craftsmanship the collection is said to recreate in a totally new and and innovative style Japanese tabi shoes and clothing, and promises to be a truly one-of-a-kind event.  Event will be held at the Pagoda stage on Post Street. 

h. NAOTO Fashion Show 

Come check out the h. Naoto Spring collection at the Superfrog Gallery at New People World from 1:30-2:30PM. Event is free with purchase of $100 or more at the h. Naoto pop-up shop.

BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT Fashion Contest
Lolitas! Fashionistas! Boys and girls! This year, BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT and Animation on Display co-host a circus-inspired, over-the-top Lolita fashion contest at the Pagoda Stage from 3-3:45PM. Full details and rules of entry are available here.

JPOP VIP Party 7:30PM- 10:PM

Designers , stylists,  musicians, celebrities, and dignitaries from Japan will come together to celebrate the summit at the JPOP VIP Party.  Tickets range from $20-$100 and are still available via eventbrite. 

Sunday August, 28th

Day 2 at JPOP means h. Naoto Mania will be in full effect! As fans of the label compete in a street styling-competition at the Pagoda Stage on Post Street from 1-1:30 PM, and guess what Wyldies? The special guest judges for this event will be designer Naoto Hirooka and Yours Truly!  Full entry rules and guidelines can be found here.

After the street styling competition don't forget to head over to Viz Cinema for the film screening of h. Naoto collection, and a special Q&A session where the designer will discuss art, inspiration and all things Japanese fashion.
