Still time to get in to Glamorama!

Arguably the biggest and most professionally produced  local fashion event of the season, Macy's Passport, has big changes for attendees at the annual charity-focused event this year. Previously a pretty straight forward runway show featuring straight off the racks contemporary collections and a bevy of local models, the newly renamed Glamorama will be a multi-faceted art and entertainment extravaganza featuring a live runway show and performances by  singer/songwriter artist Bruno Mars and electro-pop quartette Far East Movement. Also new this year, following the Fashion and Entertainment portion of the evening, attendees will move to the fabulously beautiful Asian Art Museum for an "ARTlandish" after party featuring local djs,  cocktails, and  hors d'oeuvres.

“Fashion is truly a kinetic form of art. It's always moving, always inspiring and ever-changing. As a background to the designer looks on the runway, the audience will enjoy a powerful visual show inspired by the arts,” said Mike Gansmoe, Macy’s Vice President of Special Productions in the official press release.  From Degas to Banksy, ballet to breakdance, and everywhere in between, Macy's Glamorama should prove to be an incredible journey.”

Macy's Passport began nearly 30 years ago as as an awareness-raising fashion show in Macy’s employee cafeteria  and has since grown into one of the largest and longest-running HIV/AIDS events of its kind, with events in Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.  The fashion benefit, with the help of the Macy’s Foundation, has donated more than $29 million to HIV/AIDS services, prevention, education and research. This year's San Francisco event will benefit local charities: AIDS Emergency Fund, Glide Foundation and Project Open Hand.

Macy's Glamorama takes place on Friday, September 30, at 8:00 p.m. at the Orpheum Theatre. Although all VIP Seats are SOLD OUT, a few 'performance only' seats available in the $79-$129 range via SHNSF
