Review: The September Issue
The highly anticipated Anna Wintour centered documentary, The September Issue, hits theaters around the bay today, and is guaranteed to thrill fashion and publishing fans alike, with lavish coverage of couture shoots, behind the scenes design meetings, and lots of industry cameos. While the insider view the film offers may be the main box office lure, the film's true heart comes from surprisingly emotional (and often hilarious) commentary by creative director/artistic genius Grace Coddington who serves as the lone voice of disagreement in Wintour's tightly controlled domain.
Wintour herself, who has been dogged by nicknames such as "Nuclear Wintour" throughout her career, shows little of her infamous temper and manages to show the audience a side that verges on fragility as she explains that her own siblings find her remarkable career nothing more than "amusing".
Just over 90 minutes the film, leaves audiences not only wanting more of the film, but craving more of escapist glamour and breath-catching beauty which Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington have been creating at Vogue for more than 20 years.
