Positivity haiku

istock photoDear Haikusue:

This year I made the resolution to be more 'positive' in my outlook. I want to teach myself to look at things in a better light so that I am not always obsessing over all the things that are wrong, and all the ways the world is unfair. Sounds simple, right? Well it hasn't been. It's only been a few days since I made this resolution and already I am faltering.  No matter what I do I feel frustrated by work, irritated with friends, and generally pessimistic that anything can be changed. How do I get out of my slump and get back to my resolution?

Signed,

Negative Nancy in the Mission

Dear Nancy:

Too broad of a goal

Make changes one at a time

Each success buoys

Maybe Negative Nancy should try to write a haiku a day. February is NaHAWrMo, or national haiku writing month. Participants write one haiku a day for the entire month. As a bonus, because haiku are so small, she would only be focusing on tiny things and therefore perhaps she wouldn't have time to think about all the negatives!
