Hipster haiku

image via American Apparel

Dear Haikusue:

When I first met my boyfriend his indie style and sardonic sense of humor really attracted me to him. I loved the way he seemed to 'do his own thing' all the time, loved independent movies and I found his fancination with fixed-gear bikes cool.  But lately I have started to feel like he is just another lame hipster with no REAL identity of his own. It's like he carries around a copy of the hipster manual and never does anything that isn't 'indie'.  It's starting to make me crazy, and I am not sure how to get him to relax and be himself, or if his terminal hipness IS his true personality. What should I do?

Signed,

Chronically hip in the Castro

Dear Chronic:

When patience runs dry

annoyed by quirks, warning sign

end of the affair
