Fashion feature: Son Jung Wan Fall 2013
image:S.Whittle for Style WyldeIn past seasons, Korean super-star designer Son Jung Wan has drawn critical and consumer praise for her sleek and modern sportswear that is both sophisticated and utterly luxe. But for Fall 2013, the designer really broke out of the sportswear shell and showed off her talents with a bevy of gorgeous gowns.

Son Jung Wan's trademark sportswear was definitely present, in a variety of silhouettes accented by twisted neck tops, fur collars, and leather accents, but the minute those delicious dresses started coming down the catwalk it was hard to think about anything else.

In her own words the designer was inspired by "two great Russian works of art: The influential abstract artist from the early 1900’s, Kandinsky and Catherine Palace, the summer residence of Catherine I of Russia. I was charmed by the ornate lines and the balance of color; the works of art masterfully harmonize bold hues with handsome silhouettes as if playing a symphony.” This inspiration was handled beautifully through all the men's and women's pieces, but really made us swoon with the crimson red gown (pictured left) that was the perfect balance of Anna Karenina meets modern.
Additional non-gown favorites in the show included the buff-pink wrap suit (pictured below right) and the twisted neck dress in amethyst pictured below left.
